Save Your Vacation Days for Vacation…. Hire a Concierge
Regardless if you’re an employee or business owner, receiving recognition for a job well done is extremely satisfying. The Twenty Fifth Hour at Your Service was fortunate enough to receive the following testimonial recently from one of our clients…
“Narrin is everything I hoped for. He takes my 91-year-old mother to all of her doctor’s appointments. Never late, always waits with her and transports her safely home. He even provides me with updates during each visit. Thanks to Narrin I can now stop using up my vacation days at work. I am so happy that I found his service.”
While I am honored to receive such positive feedback from a valued client, something they said really jumped out at me, specifically his comment about no longer having to use vacation days to take his mother to appointments.
As our population ages, more and more people will need assistance in carrying out many of the activities of daily life. According to a study by the insurance company Genworth, 7 out of 10 Americans over the age of 65 will need some form of long-term care in the future. More so, their study found that 51% of the people providing that care will be the adult children of the care recipient and 58% of the caregivers were between the ages of 25-54 with an average age of 47.
These statistics eerily reflect the situation between my client and his mother in that many care givers are in their prime income earning years and having to care for an aging loved one can have a significant economic impact on the caregiver. Genworth’s study also outlined that:
- 70% of caregivers missed time from work
- 46% had to work fewer hours
- 35% lost vacation or sick time
- 35% had repeated work absences
- 30% missed career advancement opportunities
- 23% were repeatedly late for work
- 9% lost their jobs due to providing care
Lifestyle Managers, especially those like the Twenty Fifth Hour Concierge Service which have a focus on providing services for the elderly and their families, can have a valuable impact on both the personal and professional lives of caregivers. Whether is taking your loved one to appointments, picking up their prescription, cooking them a special meal, or taking them out for a cup of coffee, let us handle some of the daily tasks of caregiving so you can avoid becoming one of the above statistics.
Oh, and the best part of the message that my client sent me was this video of his mother…. Bless her heart!
